This one-day (self-paced) online course introduces students to ventilation using a house-as-a-system approach. Students will gain a basic understanding of building science in addition to ventilation. Throughout the online lessons students will learn different ventilation strategies and how they relate to the house as a system. The class curriculum is suitable for weatherization auditors, crews and those seeking a better understanding of ventilation and basic building science.
Course objectives: Students learn the fundamentals and minimum requirements for ventilation in lowrise residential homes as well as different ventilation strategies and how they relate to the house as a system.
Skills taught: Equipment setup of exhaust flow hoods, including proper manometer and hose setup, and interpretation of test data compared to the ASHRAE Standard.
