Training Classes

Quality Control Inspector (QCI) Course
In this three-day course, students will learn to assess the work performed against the work plan, understand specifications and standards, perform building and safety diagnostics, record and report findings and concerns, specify corrective actions, communicate effectively with the client, and determine the final pass/fail of the work performed.

Energy Auditor (EA) Course
This two-week course teaches students to evaluate the energy efficiency, health, and safety of a home and to use diagnostic equipment to identify areas for energy savings.

Crew Leader (CL) Course
This course is based on a National Renewable Energy Laboratory/U.S. Department of Energy Job Task Analysis (JTA) of the same name. The one-week Crew Leader course is designed to ensure quality through supervision of the installation and performance of weatherization measures defined in each project’s work scope developed during the auditing/estimating process.

Retrofit Installer Technician (RIT) Course
This one-week course covers residential envelope air sealing, HVAC duct sealing, insulation, windows and doors, mechanical ventilation and roofing upgrades in single-family homes and small multi-family housing.

Leakage, Envelope & Ducts (LED)
This one-day course teaches the fundamentals of air movement in residential structures and explores how ventilation relates to overall air leakage.

Building Analyst
This course aligns with the Building Performance Institute (BPI) Building Analyst Professional standards for residential energy auditing. This one week course introduces students to various components of building science, including combustion safety, blower door testing, energy analysis, home performance assessment and effective communication with clients.

Combustion Appliance Zone Safety (CAZ)
The one-day CAZ training teaches students to diagnose health and safety issues where combustion appliances are in use.

ASHRAE 62.2 Ventilation Standards
This one-day course introduces students to ventilation using a house-as-a-system approach. Students will gain a basic understanding of building science in addition to ventilation.

Zonal Pressure Diagnostics
This one-day course teaches students techniques to identify envelope pressure boundaries.

NEAT/MHEA Audit Software
In this four-day course, students learn to use Windows-based National Energy Audit Tool (NEAT) and Manufactured Home Energy Audit (MHEA) software.

Dwelling Needs Evaluator
This four-week course prepares students to perform pre- and post-inspection services within Kentucky's DOE-funded Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP).

Multifamily Quality Control Inspector Course
Multifamily Quality Control Inspector is an advanced course for knowledgeable and experienced residential quality control inspectors. The course covers Multifamily Quality Control requirements and techniques, systems identification and analysis, QC reporting, and QC Planning.

The 7,200-square-foot training facility is equipped with high-tech classrooms and state-of-the-art training labs to provide students with a high-quality learning environment. SMART technology allows students to participate in the instructional process in the classroom while fully functioning training labs provide students with hands-on application of the techniques learned.
